A Message from an ANC Commissioner who attended the Ward 3 Dems/ Ward 4 At-Large Candidates Forum

October 24, 2008
Dear Mr. Schwartzman,

I attended the Ward 3 Dems/ Ward 4 At-Large Candidates Forum last night at St. Columba's church. I stayed for only a short time, but it was plenty to convince me that my instincts about you were correct.

First of all, you were the only candidate on time. You showed your respect for the citizens and your lack of personal arrogance by this simple act, something that none of the other candidates were able to do.

Secondly, your answer to the first question about to strengthen the Council's role was music to my ears. I have been an ANC commissioner for 4 years (two terms), and I have watched in horror as Adrian Fenty, Peter Nickles and Michelle Rhee have made a mockery of democracy and good government and good school management in such a short time.

I will cast a vote for you as an At-Large candidate this election. I wish that other citizens were all going to pay attention and think about the direction this city is headed in and really evaluate the candidates based on their merits and not on what the newspapers (most notably the Post and the Current) tell them to do.

I will send a check to your campaign today in the amount of $50.00. I wish it could be more.

Best of luck on election day.

Sincerely,

Anne C. Sullivan
